Carter's Middle East tour

Former U.S. president and Nobel Peace Prize Winner Carter landed in Israel as a part of his nine-day tour visit Israel, Palestine and Syria. Israel Officials gave cold welcome. Only Israel's President met him and criticized his plan to meet with exiled Hamas politburo chief Khaled Mashaal in Damascus this weekend.
Israelis and Israel's friends in Washington are angry with Carter after the publication of his book "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid.
Carter, who is on a trip to the Middle East to assess the situation , is of the opinion that someone should meet him(Khaled Mashaal) and tell him to stop his attacks against Israel civilians.
The Bush Administration is also not happy over his plan to meet Hamas's chief.
In my opinion, there is no harm in meeting with Hamas's chief. This contact can give the idea what he wants from the International community. Israel and Israel's friends in US must know their rigid stance will complicate the problems.
