Nawaz Sharif looks for Washington's blessing

posted Thursday, 23 August 2007

Link: Munaeem's News & Reviews Blog:

Nawaz Sharif has called upon Washington to support Pakistan as a country - not just the general. Talking to AP after supreme court’s decision. He said :

"It is being perceived America is supporting one man against 160 million people in Pakistan. It should not equate Pakistan with Musharraf."

He asked Washington to reconsider its relationship with Pakistan and not give its support just to Musharraf if it wants to quell religious militancy. He sad

"In any democracy you can find such menaces, but if a democracy fights terrorism, ultimately it will win the battle, if one individual is fighting the battle (he) cannot win."

It is shocking that every Pakistani leader is an American stooge. They always long for America’s blessing to rule their country.
Sharif was convicted of corruption and treason after he was ousted by Musharraf in a 1999 military coup and sentenced to 14 years in prison and later he approached Saudi Arabia for his exile
