India allows Siachen glacier trek

Despite Pakistan protest, a 42 members of an expedition which left Leh in Ladakh on Wednesday for the Siachen glacier.
India’s move to allow trekkers to visit the disputed Siachen glacier could aggravate the situation with serious consequences that vitiate the atmosphere for the ongoing peace process.
India and Pakistani have been fighting over Siachen since 1984 when Indian troops occupied the 6,300-meter-high glacier.Thousands of soldiers have died on these icy peaks, which is known as the world's highest battlefield.
